Enugu Celebrates Two Years Of Gov. Chime

As Enugu State joins the rest of the good people of Nigeria to celebrate democratic rule in the country, below is an excerpt from the speech by His Excellency, Sullivan Iheanacho Chime, Governor Enugu State, on the occasion of 2009 Democracy Day/Second Anniversary of his administration held at the Michael Okpara Square, Independence Layout, Enugu, Nigeria on Friday 29th May 2009.

“….As the nation marks ten years of uninterrapted civilian rule, we in Enugu State marks two years of service to our people. With all humility my dear friends believe me when I say that serving you this two years though challenging have been a worthwhile experience.

“We most go to God with thanksgiving for the great work and favours He has done to our State and in our lives in this past 24 months.

“I find coming to this great square each year an invigorating experience because it was here two years ago, on a sunny May day, that I made that solemn promise to serve you and our dear State with all my heart and energy.

“Today, half way, into our tenure I renew my pledge before all of you that I will remain steadfast and unshaken in my commitment to making Enugu, the State of your dreams….”
